Chocolate Martini

Chocolate Martini

Chocolate Martini-029

There’s a restaurant in DC that’s near and dear to my heart because it’s where we went for my bachelorette party AND because they specialize in all things chocolate. They have THE best chocolate inspired cocktails and desserts and call themselves a ‘Chocolate Lounge & Boutique.’ Need I say more? I’m actually surprised it’s taken us this long to make a creamy after dinner cocktail in the spirit of Coco Sala. I had a few requirements for this cocktail which is that it could not just taste like too sweet chocolate milk. I wanted it to have a bite while being creamy and ‘dessert-like’ and this definitely surpassed my expectations! We used a mix of Creme de Cacao, Vanilla Vodka, and Godiva Chocolate for a decadent drink that is perfect for special occasions or anytime you want to turn your home into a Chocolate Lounge.

Chocolate Martini:

Modified from this recipe.

Ingredients:

1 1/2 ounce (Godiva) chocolate liqueur
1 1/2 ounce vanilla vodka
1 1/2 ounce creme de cacao
1 1/2 ounce half-and-half

Directions:

1. Combine all ingredients in cocktail shaker, add ice, and shake.

2. Pour into Martini glass and enjoy!

This is fine except for the fact that it means less experimentation ofContinue Reading

Homemade Snickers Bars

Homemade Snickers Bars

When we first decided to make homemade Snickers bars, our plan was to make each component from scratch…the peanut nougat, the caramel, and the tempered chocolate shell. About 30 minutes into this process we had a rock hard ball of solidified sugar cemented to the whisk attachment of our Kitchenaid. I’m still surprised (and thankful)Continue Reading

Homemade S’mores

Homemade S’mores

Can you tell that we’re excited for summer? Once we had the idea to make homemade marshmallows and graham crackers for S’mores we couldn’t even wait until May to make this nostalgic campfire classic. We live in a condo so we had to ‘roast’ our marshmallows over our electric cooktop but the flavor was theContinue Reading

Churros and Mexican Hot Chocolate

Churros and Mexican Hot Chocolate

My grandparents have a house on the Eastern shore of MD about 2 hours away and when I was growing up we spent many weekends there. Exactly halfway to their house there was a Taco Bell where we would usually stop for lunch or dinner. After our tacos and burritos we would occasionally finish ourContinue Reading
