Yes, I know…we’ve been a little MIA recently. Life has been really busy. Between travelling for the holidays, work, and still getting settled into our house, we haven’t been keeping up our usual posting schedule! This weekend we wanted to do something fun and very simple to get back into the swing of things…so what better than a cocktail? The classic Gimlet fit the bill in that it only has three ingredients…gin, lime juice and simple syrup. I love tart cocktails so this drink was exactly my, er, cup of tea, so to speak. It may even rank up there with Nathan’s margarita and whiskey sour which is saying something! If you’re looking for a simple and refreshing cocktail definitely try this one…it’s destined to become part of our usual rotation!

The Gimlet Cocktail:

Ingredients:

3 ounces gin
1.5 ounces lime juice
3/4 ounce simple syrup

Directions:

1. Add all ingredients to cocktail shaker with ice and shake until cold.
2. Pour over rocks and enjoy!

Well, I hate (really really hate) to say it but…this is it. Our last hurrah of summer. The mornings have started getting nippier and there’s just that smell and angle of the light that tells me fall is right around the corner. We’re not those people that get on the pumpkin train in early September.Continue Reading

People sometimes ask me if we ever have total failures in the kitchen and the answer is yes! This post was actually supposed to be a Juicy Lucy burger recipe (a burger cooked with cheese inside) but the burgers fell short of our expectations on so many levels that we had to come up withContinue Reading

Nathan and I traveled to Chicago last week for both work and play. We wanted to eat at some of the popular restaurants but seeing as we were trying to make reservations for the same day and many of the restaurants only had reservations a month out (!?) we had to do something else. TheContinue Reading
