If you really wanted to torture Nathan and I, you would take us to the Washington, D.C. Cherry Blossom festival on a Saturday afternoon. We shudder at the thought of the crowds packed into the tidal basin taking pictures, pedal boating or picnicking with the hordes. We’re perfectly happy celebrating the cherry blossoms in our own way which includes gazing lovingly at the two cherry blossom trees in our neighborhood while enjoying this cocktail. This Cherry Blossom cocktail embodies all the flavors of the season while giving a nod to Japan, the giver of the trees. Unlike the Starbucks Cherry Blossom Frappuccino, our drink does include actual cherry flavors along with Sake (Japanese rice wine), homemade grenadine, lime juice and triple sec. If you’re like us and couldn’t be paid to visit the Cherry Blossom you should celebrate the better way by creating this tasty cocktail!
