Our latest beer was originally brewed as holiday presents to our families. In order to ensure that our family members made it through the rest of the long, harsh winter we wanted to give them a hearty brew that would warm their souls on a cold winter’s night. Brewed with chocolate malt grains, this beer is a little darker than most we have brewed. With an O.G. of 1.060 and an F.G. of 1.014, the Bomb Bock beer is a respectable 6.7% alcohol to help you take off the edge of the winter nights.
At this point, I’m sure you are saying to yourself: “Why did they call it Bomb Bock?”
The answer to that, my friends, may make little, to no, sense… The original name for the beer was supposed to be ‘Mistle Bock’. This was to be a play on mistletoe, everyone’s favorite holiday kissing enabler. And because ‘mistle’ and ‘missile’ are homophones, the logo for the beer was going to be a missile. Then, after doing a little bit of research we found out that mistletoe is actually a parasitic organism that grows on trees! Needless to say, we didn’t find naming our beer after a parasite particularly appetizing.
Being the logical people we are, we decided to ditch the holiday reference and just call the beer ‘Bomb Bock’ because I had my heart set on designing some sort of explosives-based logo. As a result, we now have a completely nonsensical beer name to go along with our latest brew. But hey, we get points for alliteration, right?
